Apres Bobotie

Phew, having tucked into the dish of custard topped spicy meat filling and sampled sprinklings from the delicious array of accompanying tidbits I am finishing off with a glass of iced Marula. Heaven in a glass! Life doesn't get much better than this!

Bobotie is an interesting fusion of ingredients which have a hint of fruit, the spice and heat of curry with a creamy finish. The final taste can be personalised to suit individual persuasions by the garnish of chutneys (traditionally Mrs Ball's,) sliced bananas, dessicated coconut, sultanas, tomato & onion chutney to mention but a few.

Surprisingly enough, not too disastrous for the diet either!

A brief Google-surf will dredge up 69,000 recipe versions in under a second.

Enjoy.

My First Bobotie

So, Kate said "Have you ever eaten Bobotie?"

Well, I certainly hadn't, so she said that would be the meal she would cook for us all tonight - a favourite South African dish cooked by her Ouma in her childhood and that she had a secret recipe which, after many years of pleading (plus a few Rand,) she eventually wrested from said innocent.

I am sitting here typing this blog with the gorgeous spicy and succulent aromas pervading through the house, and my juices are flowing BIG TIME.
